So...I was invited to speak at two Career Days this year by former schoolmates.

I spoke at Calverton Elementary in Beltsville, MD and Alice Deal Middle School in Northwest Washington D.C. (the commute was trash!) and I want to add that the latter has a frickin' composition program! It was actually put together by a former college/band mate of mine, Bridget Myers.

It might not mean much to some of you, but I know of about ZERO other middle schools (or elementary and high schools for that matter) that have compositions programs available to music students. That's not to say there aren't others, but in an era when arts programs in public schools often times.....cling to life when they are allowed to exist, I think what Myers is doing is pretty...legendary. It was an honor to be apart of that, to say the least.
